DAGUPAN CITY -- In line with the Women's Month Celebration next month, a marathon event exclusively for women will be held here on March 8.
The “Dagupan Pinay Idol Marathon,” one of the pet projects of City Councilor Farah Marie Decano, is now on its third year.

This is the second year of her partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Dagupeña, Metro Dagupan headed by Allan Yparraguirre. This year's chairperson is club past president Margie Ursua.
Ursua said there are two categories: the 3k or 3-kilometer distance for eight to 12 years old age group, and the 5k or 5-kilometer distance for 13 years old and above.
In the 3-kilometer age group, the first placer will receive P1,500 while the second placer will receive P1,300. The third, fourth, and fifth runner will receive P1,000, P750 and P500, respectively.
In the 5k distance, the cash prizes are P2,000, P1,500, P1,300, P1,000, and P750 for the first to fifth finishers, respectively.
All the winners will also receive a medal each.
Ursua also said there will also be cash prizes for the schools or entities with the most number of runners who finished the race.
Both in the 3k and 5k, the first placer will receive P2,000 while the second and third groups with the most number of finishers will receive P1,000 and P750, respectively.
On March 8, assembly is scheduled at 5 a.m. at the city plaza. Curfew for the 5k is one hour after the official start of the race. (LCMY/Sunnex)
