Wednesday, March 17, 2010

DAGUPAN CITY -- The Dagupan City Police Station arrested three women involved in three incidents of theft here recently.

City Police Chief Mariano Luis Verzosa Jr. warned the local residents and businessmen to be alert as other members of the Salisi Gang might be just around the city waiting for time to strike again.

Verzosa identified the Salisi Gang members as Maria Vinette Ramos, 30; Melanie Manguba, 30; and Marlyn Manguba, 39, all from Barangay Cabaruan, Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur.

Verzosa said the first theft incident happened morning of March 15.

At the Plato Wraps in Barangay Tapuac, here, the suspects posed as customers and ordered a large number of cream bread.

While the Plato Wraps service crew was getting their order inside the main restaurant, one of the women-suspects (later identified as Marlyn) opened the cash drawer and took P6,000.

At that moment, the other suspects were distracting the attention of the other crew; after which, all the suspects immediately fled.

The second incident on that same day took place at the Center for Performing Arts inside the CSI Citymall at the nearby Barangay Lucao.

Verzosa said piano teacher Virginia Mendoza was then teaching a student when the three suspects went inside the room and inquired about their program. She later discovered that her small pouch containing P400 and keys were missing.

The group's third victim that day was the RTW (ready-to-wear) for Children at Barangay Tapuac owned by Joseph Sto. Domingo.

Allegedly, his wife and their house helper entertained the three women who wanted to buy in bulk imported baby dresses.

While negotiating, the suspects found a way to enter the victims' house and took away an Apple laptop which cost P100,000.

When the house helper discovered the laptop missing, she called the attention of the tricycle drivers nearby who ran after the fleeing suspects. The laptop was found inside the black shoulder bag of the suspects.

Verzosa said the three were charged with several counts of the theft.

He said they were able confirm with the Vigan police that the suspects have pending cases.

“Their group is considered as an organized crime group, seguro may hierarchy na sila. They don't walk alone. Gaya niyan, nakakulong sila, magre-raise ng pondo yong mga kasamahan sila para sa bail nila. ipinakulong na sila, their companions will raise funds to bail them out,” he explained.

The bail for theft is only P10,000.

Verzosa has warned local residents to be vigilant as Salisi Gang members strike unexpectedly. (LCMY/Sunnex)
