WHO says Ernesto “Erny” Elizondo looks like a doddering 80-year-old? No one who saw Erny on the night of his 80th birthday would ever say so! Not with the celebrator, garbed in a flaming red shirt, greeting his many friends, colleagues, taking time to engage in lively banter, raising the hand of a candidate and just having fun, we had never seen Erny as fit as a fiddle and in fine spirits!
AFTER 52 years in the Philippines, British Consul Moya Jackson can truly say, “that’s half my life I’ve spent among such warm and wonderful people.” Of these 52 years, 25 of them were as British Consul in Cebu, and what a job that was!
Proudly, Moya retires as an MBE (Member of the British Empire), a singular honor if ever there was one. This was significantly mentioned by British Ambassador Stephen Lillie when he and British Consul (Manila) Brendan Gill, honored Moya with a consular award at farewell cocktails at the Cebu Country Club.
CAFE MARCO, at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu Hotel, was recently lauded as the Philippines’ fifth best restaurant by Miele Guide, an honor obviously not enjoyed by everyone.
