MANILA (Updated) — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday postponed the holding of the elections in Pantar town in Lanao del Norte after the names of 2,000 were illegally inserted in the voters’ list in that municipality.
Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos said the names of 2,000 voters did not pass the Election Registration Board (ERB).
Abalos said the elections in Pantar will be held within the next 30 days.
In other parts of the country, the Comelec has described the elections in Western and Central Visayas as peaceful while the agency has augmented the number of policemen
deployed in polling places in Eastern Visayas.
Voting is due to end at 3 p.m. (Sunnex)
