BACOLOD -- The election in the municipalities of Pontevedra
and San Enrique will push through after the Senate Electoral
Tribunal (SET) Tuesday returned the Book of Voters containing
the voter's registration records of the two towns.
Provincial
Election Supervisor Cirilo Nala told Sun.Star Bacolod that
Arnie Sumugat, SET ballot box section officer, turned over
to him 16 boxes containing the Books of Voters and computerized
list of voters of the two municipalities.
Nala
said Sumugat then went to Pontevedra to turn over the VRR.
The
VRRs are vital documents needed in the National Precinct Mapping
and CVL Verification Project.
The
VRRs were brought to Manila after the 1998 elections when
then senatorial candidate Roberto "Obet" Pagdanganan
filed a petition against Senator Tessie Aquino-Oreta.
The
return was delayed as Pagdanganan failed to deposit the amount
necessary for the return of the VRRs and ballot boxes.
