Cebu Province creates IT council

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia signed Friday an executive order creating the Provincial Information Technology Council to "bring government closer to people" and speed up the delivery of basic services.
The council, which she said is the first of its kind in the country, will be composed of lead agencies of government, local government units, IT leaders in business, academe, private sector and civil society.

I'm really excited to know the results of the Cebu ICT 2005 congress. Cebu has come a long way when the first ICT conference was held in Cebu in 2001. A lot of positive developments have happened. I'm sure that this will be enhanced by the results of the recently concluded international congress in Cebu.

It would be good if the SunStar can interview the Cebu IT council regarding their planned activities for the year or the next five years? We'de like to know what direction they would take.
