Palace await Ombud move on plunder case v. Gloria

DEPUTY presidential spokesman Ricardo Saludo said Malacañang is waiting for the action of the Ombudsman on the plunder charge filed by defeated senatorial candidate Francisco Chavez on the P728 million-farm inputs allocation.

Saludo said the Palace will not answer Chavez' allegations in media.

"We will respond only to the summons or whatever actions the Ombudsman will undertake. We will not respond to parties other than the Office of the Ombudsman," he said.

He said the matter of whether President Arroyo is immune from any suit would also be looked into by the Ombudsman.

Budget Sec. Emilia Boncodin said the farm inputs fund was part of the P9.1-billion appropriated for the agriculture department under the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Fund (Afma). JMR
