Gov't, breakaway rebels to sign 'harmonized' rules By Avelyn Z. Agudon
THE government and the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa-Pilipinas (RPM-P) and its armed wing, the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB), will sign the "harmonized" rules and regulation for the organization of the Joint Enforcement Monitoring Committee (JEMC) within this month.
Arturo Tabara, chairman of the RPM-P, told Sun.Star Bacolod their group is just waiting for a formal notice from Presidential Adviser on Peace Process Eduardo Ermita for the signing of the JEMC's rules and regulations.
President Arroyo ordered the creation of the JEMC last month.
The JEMC is tasked to oversee the implementation of the peace agreement between the national government and the breakaway rebels.
The committee will be composed of two representatives from the government, two from the RPM-P/RPA-ABB and one from the non-government organizations.
Those representing the government are Secretary Teresita Quintos-Deles, chairman of the National Anti-Poverty Commission, and Ret. Gen. Victor Mayo of the Office of the Presidential Affairs on Peace Process. Those from the RPM-P/RPA-ABB are Veronica Tabara, a member of the RPM-P, and Stephen Paduano (Carapali Lualhati), national commander of the RPA-ABB. |
