Bacoleño overall champion in Talisay drag race

BACOLEÑO Caloy Lim topped the 16-cast 1st Anthony Lizares National Drag Race Saturday held at Ayala North Point in Talisay City.

Zooming the quarter-mile race course, Lim also accelerated his pedals to high gear to emerge first placer in the Super Stock Category of the pair-by-pair race.

Lim was followed by Oliver Abanilla of Iloilo City in the division.

In the Showroom Stock Category, JV Vargas, also of Bacolod finished at first spot with second placer Dave Jison.

Vargas also ruled the Modified Division followed by Abanilla.

Organized by the Iloilo Motorsports and Safety Association, the race is part of Talisay City's 3rd Minuluan Arts and Cultural Festival slated Sept. 6 to 10. IMSA is a group of professional drag racers.

The IMSA officers: Arsenio "Nonong" Solis, president; Charlito Agao, vice president; Sheila Garvilles, secretary; Victor Bermejo, pit boss; Allan Palacios and Chad Alba, staging officials; and Noel Espanta, marshall officer.

Aside from drag racing, various sports events have also been lined up for the celebration, including volleyball, street football, billiard competition, boxing, sepak takraw, taekwondo and cockfighting.
