City traffic cop shot dead in Silay City
By Claudine C. Dumalag

A MEMBER of the city police Traffic Management Group was shot dead in a karaoke bar in Silay City at 4 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was identified as SPO1 Walter "Boy" Mendoza, 45, a resident of Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay Guinhalaran also in Silay.

SPO1 Ramil Robles, a Silay police investigator, said Mendoza was shot several times by two unidentified persons while he was drinking with his friends.

Robles said there were only a few customers left when the incident took place.
Mendoza was wounded on the chest, abdomen and back.

Witnesses said the victim died immediately.

The culprits fled on board a getaway vehicle, towards an unknown direction.
Robles said he is yet to identify the firearms used by the suspects.

Supt. Celestino Guara, city police chief, ordered his personnel to conduct a manhunt operation to arrest the killers.

He said they have already identified possible suspects but refused to name them pending further investigation.
