20 Wesnecans pass qualifying exam
TWENTY cadets from the College of Maritime Studies of West Negros College passed the qualifying examination conducted by the Southfield Agencies Inc. last Dec. 6 to 7.
The passers are composed of 15 Deck and five Engine CMS cadets.
Capt. Avenger Azucena, WNC-CMS dean, said the two-day exam was conducted by SAI personnel headed by Cadet Program Manager C/E Rodolfo Virtudazo and LPG Fleet Manager Capt. Ricardo Panopio.
The passers are Deck Cadets Alberto de la Peña Jr., Jose Maria Torio II, Ivan Manzanilla, Oscar Sustiosa Jr., Julius Sustiosa, Regan Conocos, Mark Anthony Diola, Oresto Bastyo, Fejie Causapin, Eduard Chang, Adrian Cuello, Begie Genis, Christian Silvano, Lucky Gabilagon, and Ronald Chavez; and Engine Cadets Crisandel Gelaga, Julius Suguilon, Meliton Andales Jr., Juanito Reyes II, and Michael Angelo Dime.
They will leave for Manila to undergo in-house and shipboard training shortly.
The Southfield Agencies Inc. is a licensed manning company that conducts an intensive maritime training program to tap graduates of selected maritime schools in the country.
The agency provides and maintains a steady pool of technically-competent officers for local and international maritime industry and principals include Swan Shipping (LPG Fleet), Pattermanfield Shipping, Craig Ship Management, Hyundai Merchant Marine, among others.
Azucena added that WNC is the only maritime school in Western Visayas which was chosen by SAI for this year’s qualifiers.
Exams were also conducted in maritime schools in Davao and Cebu.
