2 cops suspended; another faces dismissal By Claudine C. Dumalag
Two policemen in Negros Occidental were suspended from the service while another was ordered dismissed for separate charges, disclosed Senior Supt. Vicente Ponteras, provincial police director.
Ponteras said the suspended policemen are PO1 Ramonito Aragon of the Manapla town police and PO1 Pedros Ledesma of La Castellana; while dismissed was PO3 Danilo Orocio, of the Don Salvador Benedicto police.
Aragon’s one week suspension takes effect today after he was found responsible for mauling a tricycle driver, Elicio Delgado, 27, of Barangay Purisima, Manapla at about 11 p.m. of Dec. 31.
Delgado was supposed to file a complaint before Aragon, who was then detailed as desk-officer-on-duty.
But Aragon, who was drunk, beat Delgado instead.
On the other hand, Ledesma’s one month suspension which takes effect tomorrow, came after he indiscriminately fired his service firearm in November last year.
Ledesma, who was also drunk, fired a single shot from his M-16 armalite rifle.
Also for indiscriminate firing charges, Orocio was ordered dismissed effective yesterday.
Orocio, who was having a drinking spree with his friends at Ceferina Beach Resort, in Manapla town last Dec. 12, was found positive of firing his .38 caliber revolver service firearm.
Temporary relief
Ponteras also said that Insp. Allan Resuma, Ilog town police chief, was temporarily relieved effective yesterday after he was tasked to undergo a training on Special Weapons Assault Team in Cebu City.
Resuma will be replaced by Insp. Eduardo Corpuz, Hinobaan town police chief, as officer-in-charge.
Earlier, Pulupandan town police chief, Senior Insp. Rodrigo Padasas, was also temporarily relieved after he was shot by his deputy, SPO4 Antonietto Grande on the leg last Dec. 31.
Supt. Camilo Gonzales, deputy provincial police director was temporarily assigned as the officer-in-charge of the Victorias City police office.
This was after Supt. Alex Belonio, then police chief of Victorias, and another policeman, PO2 Roy Sudario were relieved after they mauled a seaman and a fighting cock handler last Dec. 29 inside JB’s Place Bar and Restaurant.
Ponteras said he has already sent letters to the respective mayors of the cities and towns where the relieved policemen are detailed. CCD
