P1.2M shabu seized in Sagay; 4 traders nabbed By Claudine C. Dumalag
OPERATIVES of the 602nd Regional Mobile Group and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested in simultaneous drug-busts Monday five Mindanao-based suspected drug traders in Sagay City.
Police operatives seized an estimated total of 540 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P1.2 million.
At 10:30 p.m. Monday, Senior Insp. Jefferson Descallar, 602nd RMG chief, led the team which conducted a buy-bust operation against the suspects identified as Baby Ladi, 19, resident of Poblacion I, Sagay; Larry Tanday, 31, of Tambacan, Iligan City; and Alicman Tanday, 21, and Alex Tanday, 30, both of Salvador, in Lanao del Norte.
Police recovered from the four suspects’ possession four big sachets of shabu weighing 500 grams, and four P500 peso bills in marked money.
At 10:35 p.m. on the same day, the PDEA operatives conducted a search at the residence of Amir “Omar” Ampaso, 39, of Barangay. Poblacion I, Sagay City.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Rolando Ramirez of the Sagay Municipal Circuit Trial Court, the PDEA agents confiscated four big sachets of shabu weighing 20 grams, six plastic sachets for repacking shabu weighing 12 grams, two bundles of repacking plastics, two pairs of scissors, a weighing scale, one improvised scoop, and P2,020 cash believed to be proceeds of the illegal trade.
At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, police operatives swooped down on Ampaso’s store located at the Old Sagay Public Market where they recovered one big sachet of shabu weighing five grams, and another two small sachets of shabu weighing two grams.
The search was also conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by Ramirez and was witnessed by village head Maximiano Masculino, Jr.
All suspects are now detained at the Sagay police station.
Negros Occidental Provincial Police Director Vicente Ponterassaid that the Sagay police station will receive an award for their accomplishment.
Gov. Joseph Marañon will grace the occasion.
