LTO conducts spot checks on seatbelt law compliance
By Christine Mae A. Pelayo

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) will strictly implement the law on the use of seatbelts and other traffic regulations.

Bacolod city Mayor Luzviminda Valdez said the City intensified its campaign on the use of seatbelts since last year yet but most public utility jeepneys drivers still do not follow the seatbelt requirement.

“This is not just our campaign but also of the LTO national office. I appeal to vehicle owners and drivers to use their seatbelts,” said Valdez.

She added that the LTO currently conducts spot-check operations on the use of seatbelts.

On the other hand, Valdez said the City is preparing for National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week.

One of the significant highlights of the celebration is the signages for disabled persons at the city’s intersections in Araneta and Luzuriaga streets, added Valdez.

She further said that the occasion is part of the implementation of Republic Act (RA) 344 or the Accessibility Law wherein persons with disability should be given access to public places.

Valdez cited that front seats of PUJs should be vacated for disabled persons.
