2nd Cadiz baseball tilt intensifies
By Jerome S. Galunan, Jr.

ACTION shifts to high gear as the eight participating teams pump up their adrenaline in the ongoing 2nd Cadiz City Inter-Barangay/Hacienda Little League Baseball competition, which started last May 17 and will last until Aug. 31.

The competing squads are Barangays Tinampaan, Cicaba, Daga, Bangkeruhan, Andres Bonifacio, Jerusalem, and Tiglawigan, and Hacienda Maya, said Darwin Singson, city sports coordinator.

The Cadiz City Council is financing the tournament, he added.

Organizers disclosed that the tournament aims to develop and enhance the talents of young Cadiznons in the field of baseball.

Through the undertaking, the youth will be encouraged to stay away from illegal drugs. It would also enable them to boost camaraderie among their fellow youngsters, added the organizers.

Earlier, Cadiz City’s Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation president Ma. Corazon Demonteverde spearheaded the “Sagupaan ng mga Kampeon” basketball tournament in cooperation with the city government.

The cagefest was staged in line with the city’s Charter Day celebration.

The Zone 6 Five bagged the competition’s championship crown when they conquered the Brgy. Tiglawigan quintet in the skirmish held at the Don Vicente S. Gustilo Memorial High School Gym.

Also played in line with the celebration was the Inter-Barkadahan 7-a-side football competition which was open only to residents of Cadiz.
