2nd Survival of the Fittest set

OUTDOOR challenge enthusiasts will have another taste of the Negros Survival of the Fittest while they also have the chance to take part in the 1st Gov. Joseph Marañon Outdoor Challenge scheduled to take centerstage October 21 to 26.

The undertaking are international events, which are expected to attract foreign competitors who will showcase their strength and power in the tournaments.

Escalante Mayor Santiago “Mai Mai” Barcelona, said two categories will be battled in the 2nd Negros Survival of the Fittest: the Elite and the Novice levels, respectively.

On the other hand, the 1st Gov. Joseph Marañon Outdoor Challenge will have only one level, the Solo category.

Organizers said the competitions will start from Sagay City en route to San Carlos City, forcing contenders to really sweat it out in the entire outing.

The event will also feature several kilometers of running, biking and mountain climbing.

Barcelona disclosed that the tournaments are somehow the same with the ‘Endurance Challenge.’

Through the competitions, he said, local sportsmen will be given the opportunity to showcase their individual talents and skills.

It will, at the same time, attract investors in the locality and boost the local tourism industry of the city and province.
