Nota to host Luis Hilado National Open tourney
By Jerome S. Galunan, Jr.

THE Negros Occidental Tennis Association (Nota) will host the Luis Hilado Memorial National Open Tournament on October 13 to 19 to coincide with the MassKara Festival in Bacolod City.

“Top-seeded national tennis players are expected to see action in the tournament,” said Nota president Severo Lacson.

Local prides like the Gubas from La Carlota City are also expected to shine in the competition, he added.

The number of participating teams and the event’s other technical guidelines will be announced later.

On the other hand, 25 tennis players of Nota held friendship games recently against their counterparts from the Proxivilla Tennis Club of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

Lacson said local prides were accommodated at the Darwin Beach Resort through Olive Yanson of the Vallacar Transit Inc., Janet Dumancas, and Dr. Ed Mercado.

Lacson further said that the tune-up matches gave the young tennis aspirants more opportunity to further develop their talents and skills.
