Police probe sex video scandal
BACOLOD City Police Director George Bajelot will help verify reports of the alleged proliferation of the so-called Bacolod sex videos in the city and other parts of Negros Occidental.
Bajelot said he received reports that the controversial video is similar to that of the Dumaguete Sex Scandal.
He said the distribution of the video is a clear violation of the law as it invades the privacy of the individuals involved.
Sanctions await those who illegally distribute the video, said Bajelot, adding that the local police will prevent the further spread of the video.
Earlier, Mayor Luzviminda Valdez said she hopes that copies of the video will not proliferate similar to what happened in the Dumaguete Scandal.
"It’s a violation of human rights," she said.
On the other hand, Senior Insp. Moises Villaceran, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group provincial head, said that they have not seen reproduced copies of the video.
He added that he will still verify the reports and will order the closure of videoshops that have copies of the sex video.
Villaceran further said the reproduction of the film is a violation under the Video Regulatory Board law.
Reports from a source earlier said the sex video was taken by the parties themselves and with permission from the involved “actors”, but only for private use.
But the video camera was reportedly damaged and was brought to a technician for fixing. However, the tape was left inside the camera.
The technician then reproduced copies of the film and had it circulated and sold.
