Police behind slay, 'asset’s' kin insists
By Roberto L. Bacasong

THE aunt of the police "asset" believed to have been salvaged is seeking justice for her nephew whose body was found last Aug. 30 in Hacienda Carmencita, Purok Tonggoy, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

Rosalie Clemente said she is waiting for the result of the inquiry conducted by the local National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on the killing of the Joefil Clemente, a spy of Police Station 2.

Joefil, 42, of Purok Lubi, Barangay 3, Bacolod City, sustained two gunshot wounds in the head.

The killers are still unidentified as of this time.

Rosalie said witnesses disclosed that a certain Cecille Brilliantes, alias “Giant” and a certain Lulu Abay, both also "assets" of the police station, were the persons last seen with the victim outside the dancehall of Purok Lubi, Barangay 3.

The aunt also revealed Abay is reportedly the girlfriend of Senior Insp. Clarence Dongail, Station 2 commander.

She further said that Brilliantes went to their house last Aug. 29 looking for her nephew.

Rosalie believed there was connivance between the police and the killers in the murder of her nephew.

On the other hand, Rosalie denied reports that the mourners who attended the funeral of her nephew last Sunday stoned the Police Station 2.

She said the mourners, who wore white t-shirts printed with words “Stop brutal salvaging”, did not stone the station. Some of them, she added, were holding placards that read: “Let us make Bacolod safe again” and “Justice for Joefil Clemente.”

Rosalie further said they plan on holding a protest calling for a stop to the brutal salvagings, crimes, torture and corruption in government.

She added that she is one of the convenors of the newly-created crusade group against crimes organized by lawyer Janus Jarder.
