By Roberto L. Bacasong

SAN Enrique Mayor Jilson Tubillara disclosed that 50 percent of drug operations in his town will be paralyzed after the arrest of an alleged notorious drug courier lately in Rizal St., Poblacion.

The suspect was identified as Arthur Suanico, brother of another well-known drug suspect, Benjie, both notorious drug couriers in the town.

The arrest of Suanico by the joint operatives of the San Enrique police station, Provincial Anti-Illegal Task Force/Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force and Special Weapon and Tactics was led by Inspectors Gary Allan Resuma and Rudy Bico.

Tubillara, however, told Sun.Star the proliferation of illegal drug remains as the main problem in his town.

San Enrique, he added, is considered as a strategic area of Negros Occidental and a prime place for the entry of illegal drugs.

Tubillara disclosed the drug supply in San Enrique largely comes from the cities of Bacolod and Dumaguete, Negros Oriental.

A Mindanao-based drug courier from Dumaguete distributes supply of drugs in his town, said Tubillara.

Tubillara said they are closely monitoring the entry of illegal drugs through the San Enrique wharf.

Aside from Suanico, also arrested in a buy-bust were drug suspects Romelendo Pillado, alias "Inday-Inday" and Ananias Velez, alias "Boy Lamas."

Recovered from their possession were two sachets of suspected shabu, empty plastic sachets with traces of suspected shabu and four disposable lighters.

The suspects are now detained at the San Enrique police station.

In another report, operatives of the Bacolod City PNP Drug Enforcement Unit led by Insp. Jonathan Lorilla conducted a buy-bust operation at Purok Mapalaron, Barangay 22, Bacolod City Tuesday afternoon against Jun-jun Cuadra, alleged member of the Cuadra group.

The suspect, however, eluded arrest.

Confiscated at his house were three big and five small plastic sachets of suspected shabu, four disposable lighters and four empty plastic sachets of shabu.
