LOCAL Commission on Elections registrar, Lawyer Norberto Plagata, will formally turn over Tuesday necessary documents to incoming Comelec registrar Entaco Rambit.

Plagata will be transferred as new election supervisor of Antique effective Tuesday while Rambit, election officer of Sipalay City, will take over Plagata’s post.

In another report, the City Council approved Mayor Luzviminda Valdez’ suggestion on the realignment of the available funds in the first supplemental budget for the appropriation of the P1.5 million allocation for Comelec-hired casuals.

Valdez earlier said she is waiting for the council to forward the pending available funds from the first supplemental budget to allocate for the casuals’ wages.

She further said she can source out the P1.5 million budget from the pending available funds in the first supplemental budget.

Valdez further cited the funds from Sars, P1 million; Educational Fund, P1 million; Canines, P500,000; Loyalty Bonus, P700,000; and payments for plantilla positions that have been deleted.

Vice Mayor Ramiro Garcia, on the other hand, said Councilor Archie Baribar, chairman of the committee on appropriation and finance, was already informed of the need to forward the documents of the pending available funds.

Earlier, the City Council disclosed they will pursue their resolution requesting the Comelec to recall the use of casuals in the registration and revalidation of voters for the 2004 presidential elections despite the change in the leadership of the commission in the local level.

With the council’s resolution, Comelec proposed for an appropriation of P1.5 million budget to pay its hired casuals.
