Police arrest 'notorious' rob suspects
SEVEN members of the notorious "akyat bahay" gang operating in Bacolod and other cities and towns in Negros Occidental were arrested at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in Purok Katilingban, Barangay 39, Bacolod City.
Joint operatives of the PNP Intelligence Branch Police Station 6 and Drug Enforcement Unit headed by Chief Insp. Harold Tuzon served the warrant of arrest against the suspects.
They were identified as Benjie Bernabe, alias "Benjie Palma, 18; Noli Diega, alias "Noli Aktor", 23; Chicuba brothers, Aris and Azer, with aliases "Gaga" and "Toto Azer", all of Baangay 39, Bacolod; Jun-jun Barrera, alias "Lupen", 19, of Purok Igmaya-on, Don Salvador Benedicto; and Telesporo Urbano, alias "Gamay", 21, of Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan.
Intelligence Officer Senior Police Officer 2 Nathaniel Gustilo said the suspects were involved in the series heists in the city.
Gustilo added that a certain "Maya" and "Ritchie" were able to escape.
The operating teams recovered stolen items inside the suspects' houses, includign a pair of shoes, vacuum cleaner, oven toaster, transformer, three car stereos, two VHS players, a component, VCD player, three 14-inch colored television sets, casettes, and electric chain saw, among others.
The intelligence officers are still conducting follow-up operations to arrest the suspects who belong to the group named the "Noli Aktor Gang."
Gustilo said the suspects were behind the robbery in the poultry farm in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod owned by Glenn Bernardo.
On the other hand, Eli Bingcang, of St. Francis Village, Bacolod told the police that the pair of shoes carted by the suspects was owned by his grandchild, Dominic Dumangos.
The operating officers were armed with search warrants issued by Judge Ma. Lorna Demonteverde of Municipal Trial Court and Cities Branch 2 and Judge Rafael Cojuangco, of MTCC Branch 7.
Gustilo appealed to the victims to visit the Intelligence Office to file necessary charges against the suspects who are presently detained at the lock-up cell of the Police Station 1.
