Rafal to replace Bajelot? By Christine Mae A. Pelayo
THE Police Regional Office 6 is reportedly pushing for Supt. Reynaldo Rafal, head of the Regional Operations and Plans Division (ROPD) in Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo, to temporarily act as chief of police of Bacolod City.
Mayor Luzviminda Valdez, however, said Rafal is just one of the nominees for the position.
"I think one of the proposal of Chief Supt. Marcelo Navarro Jr., regional police director, is to appoint Rafal as the officer-in-charge on a temporary basis," said Valdez.
Valdez admitted she had met Rafal and had seen his credentials.
"He has very good credentials, he's quite amazing. He visited me and made a courtesy call," said Valdez.
But Valdez reiterated there is no decision yet as to who will replace outgoing city police director, Senior Supt. George Bajelot.
She said the PNP national command is also pushing for a certain Avenido and a certain Villarme, from Kabankalan City.
But she reiterated that the replacement of Bajelot will probably take place after the MassKara Festival celebration.
Earlier, Navarro disclosed he has prepared the "tentative" list of possible nominees for the post.
He said, however, he will still submit the names to the Philippine National Police in Camp Crame.
