By Claudine C. Dumalag

A SENIOR student of Ramon Torres National High School (Main) in Bago City and a resident of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental were taken to the hospital after they were hit by a motorcycle Monday afternoon along the national highway of General Luna St., Bago City.

Victims Noemi Omem, 41, of Dumaguete and Mary Joy Rubin, 16, of Esteban Village, Bago were waiting for a public utility jeepney when a speeding Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Bernard Mendoza, 19, of Barangay Sampinit, Bago, bumped another Kawasaki motorcycle parked near the highway, and this in turn hit them.

The other motorcycle was driven by Porferio Amor, 61, of Purok Ilang-Ilang, Barangay Poblacion, Bago.

Both victims suffered several contusions on the different parts of their body.

After treatment at the Bago District Hospital, they were declared out of danger.

Supt. Alex Belonio, city police chief, said Amor voluntarily surrendered while Mendoza was nowhere to be found after the incident.

The victims, added Belonio, refused to file charges against the drivers.

Two weeks ago, one died while 22 others were wounded in a head-on collision involving a Ceres Bus Liner and a Canter truck along the National Highway of Barangay Burgos, Cadiz City.

Last Saturday, one died while 19 were injured when a Suzuki Carry vehicle and a Fuzo Canter collided along the national highway of Crossing Zaren, Barangay Linao, Kabankalan City.
