5 ‘robbers’ targetting rice dealers nabbed

ALMOST, but not quite.

Operatives of Murcia police station collared Thursday and Friday last week five robbers who nearly victimized two rice dealers in Murcia.

Senior Insp. Simeon Gane, town police chief, identified the suspects arrested Thursday as Arnel Villalon, of Purok Kagaycay, Bacolod City and George Cantillar, of Purok Paho, Murcia.

Those apprehended Friday were Eduardo Salimbot, 35, of Hda. Matab-ang, Talisay City; and Alquin Saldo, 29, of Homesite, Barangay Villamonte and Conrado Gamboa, 29, of Barangay Handumanan, both in Bacolod.

Gane disclosed the robbers on board a motorcycle declared the heist armed with bladed weapons against rice dealers Sharon and Dina, both surnamed Alcosaba and residents of Barangay Cansilayan, Murcia, along the vicinity of Sitio Sumbingko, in Barangay Cansilayan.

However, the victims took a metal pipe and hit one of the suspects, prompting the other robbers to flee.

The victims said the robbers wanted to get their store’s collection.

Gane said the suspects were arrested two days after they fled.
