A FILIPINO-Chinese man who occupied Room 202 of Poloy’s Pension House, Bonifacio St., Bacolod City was discovered lifeless Monday morning.
Case investigators identified the body as that of Tony Cheng, aged between 55 and 60 years old, and a resident of Maximo-Viola streets, Quezon City, Metro Manila.
Employees of the pension house last saw Cheng Sunday evening watching the cards game “tong-its” at the pension house.
The body of Cheng, an auto supply agent, was seen by stay-in roomboy Tommy Carido, 21, at 6:20 a.m.
Carido told investigators he tried to awaken Cheng and when his efforts failed, he forcibly entered the victim’s room and found him lifeless around 8 a.m.
Police was, however, quick to conclude that Cheng’s fate was due to “natural death” as there were no visible signs of foul play.
Senior Police Officer 1 Vicente Canuday Jr. said the victim could have been dead five to six hours before he was discovered.
Cheng’s body was brought to Rolling Hills funeral parlor.
The victim’s son, Arrhenins, 27, of 23-A Maximo-Viola streets, Balingasan, Quezon City told Canuday he is satisfied of the police’s findings.
The younger Cheng said he will transfer his father’s remains to their home anytime Tuesday.
Police recovered inside the victim’s room Cheng’s travelling bag containing his personal belongings including medicine kit, Rolex wristwatch, Nokia cellphone and wallet.
The wallet contained ATM cards and cash in different denominations - three P1,000 bills, four P500, seven P50, four P100, three P20 and three P10 bills, all amounting to P5,840; and $100 bills, one $20, a $5 and three $1 bill.
