Serial 'rapist' slapped with rape, carnap raps

MULTIPLE rape charges were filed against the 24-year-old self-confessed serial rapist Monday before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office.

Inspector Carmen Amunategui, head of the city police Women and Children’s Protection Desk, disclosed the suspect, Ranny Prayes, a native of Cebu City and temporarily residing in Barangay Cansilayan, Murcia, is tagged in the rape of at least four Bacoleña minors.

The molestation, she added, separately took place Oct. 13 and 16.

After his arrest Friday at the Ceres Bus South Terminal in Lopez-Jaena streets, Prayes, who admitted the rape of four teenagers, is presently detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 4.

Amunategui said aside from the multiple counts of rape, Prayes is also facing charges for violation of Republic Act 7610 or Child Abuse Law and for carnapping and driving without license.

Amunategui revealed they will also file another rape complaint as soon as the 17-year-old victim’s affidavit is available.

The victim said she was raped last Oct. 4 inside the sugarcane plantation in Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City.

Amunategui appealed to Prayes’ other victims to come out into the open and file necessary charges against the suspect.

More charges

On the other hand, Prayes is also facing carnapping charges after operatives of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office confiscated from him three stolen motorcycles.

The items included a black Aura motorcycle, believed to be carnapped in Negros Oriental, a black Suzuki, and a blue Honda.

Senior Supt. Vicente Ponteras, provincial police director, said the suspect must have used the motorcycles in hunting for prospective victims.
