Serial ‘rapist’ unrepentant

THE 24-year-old resident of Cebu City seemed to show no sign of remorse as he yesterday admitted the rape of female minors, while being detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 4.

Ranny Prayes, who temporarily resides in Barangay Cansilayan, Murcia, admitted he molested the victims although he refused to give any more details on the rape of the victims--all below 18 years old.

The victims, whose names are being withheld, were presented last Friday before Senior Supt. Vicente Ponteras, provincial police director.

Joint operatives of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police and Bacolod City Police Office collared Prayes in an entrapment operation Friday evening at the South Ceres Bus Terminal, Bacolod City.

The suspect was identified by his 17-year-old victim and another female minor, his supposed first victim.

Prayes said he cannot control his sexual instinct whenever he sees a girl.

He blamed his fleshly urge to the medicines he took when he once had a head injury due to a motorcycle accident last March 28 in Victorias City.

The suspect said he threatened to kill his victims before he molested them.

Investigation disclosed Prayes raped his first victim eight times last October 4.

The suspect dragged the 17-year-old victim inside a sugarcane plantation in Barangay Cabug, Bacolod.

The second victim, also 17, was raped five times last October 13, inside the sugarcane farm in Villa Angela Subdivision, Bacolod.

Police reports said the third victim, a 16-year-old, was raped several times last October 15, while the fourth victim, 17, was molested last October 26.

Insp. Carmen Amunatigue, head of the city police Women and Children’s Protection Desk, said the suspect will be charged with multiple rape. RLB
