DAR inks Carp financing grants
AGRARIAN Reform Secretary Roberto Pagdanganan will fly to two European Union (EU) countries to sign, on behalf of the Philippine government, the documents giving financing grants for the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp).
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) said agrarian reform communities of Negros Occidental will be funded by the financing grants in the EU.
Pagdanganan said Carp is not bound to become a white elephant, "thanks to the ceaseless magnanimity shown to the DAR by developed countries."
Pagdanganan added that Carp has managed to post "better than expected accomplishment" despite the inadequate budget appropriations.
He is slated to visit Spain and Belgium to sign the financial grants to support and sustain past Carp accomplishments, specifically, the organization and development of agrarian reform communities.
Pagdanganan noted the grant package has immense value, and that its expected benefits "may evade full comprehension, but these shall, in no time, manifest through social indicators, especially in the improvement of the quality of life of agrarian reform beneficiaries."
DAR, under the administration of Pagdanganan, has earned the trust of foreign funding sources, as shown in the number of foreign fund-assisted projects granted to the department.
Pagdanganan commended the remarkable effort and dedication of the various field units and DAR personnel, as he aired his desire to broaden and tap stakeholder support for Carp.
