LC, Ponpuvasan shuttlers conquer Area IV tilt

LA CARLOTA City feather artists bagged top honors in Badminton in the Secondary Level of the Area IV Athletic and Cultural Meet held at the Bago City gymnasium.
The tandem of the 2003 Palarong Pambansa bronze medalists in the men's doubles proved their toughness in the event after defeating all other competitors.
La Carlota also grabbed the men's and women's singles, and the mixed doubles categories.
La Carlota defeated shuttlers from Bago City in the men's singles to grab the gold medal, while it dispatched its Ponpuvasan (Pontevedra, Pulupandan, Valladolid and San Enrique) rival to top the women's singles division.
Ponpuvasan women's duo ruled over their La Carlota challengers in the finals of the competition.
The Ponpuvasan contingent also took top awards in the Elementary Level as they overruled their Bagueño contenders.
The event featured track and field, badminton, boxing, chess, football, table tennis, lawn tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, sepak takraw, swimming, baseball and dance sports.
Participants to the event came from the cities of Bago and La Carlota and the combined towns of Pontevedra, Pulupandan, Valladolid and San Enrique.
The undertaking served as the qualifying event for the forthcoming provincial meet in Bacolod City slated late December.
