Rambit ready to leave Bacolod

BACOLOD election officer Intaco Rambit belied Friday reports that he is leaving Bacolod soon because of "internal pressure" from an influential person.

"If I leave Bacolod, it's for my own and not by any outside interference," said Rambit in a telephone interview Friday night.

He, however, said that anytime now, he is ready to leave the city. This, after Comelec provincial supervisor Marsha Cordero said that if the automated counting will push through in Bacolod, lawyer Daisy Real from Iloilo-Comelec will replace him.

So far, Rambit said he hasn't received any go signal from Manila yet. "I am also wondering why there are some speculations and information milling around that I am leaving Bacolod because of pressure," he said.

He also said the statements are "premature".

Rumors, however, said Cordero, who retired last February 22, will assume Rambit's position for the meantime only until after the elections.

As to the replacement of Cordero, reports said it's a topic being discussed in Iloilo City by the Comelec Regional Office.

Rambit, however, said he is a good soldier and so he is ready for any eventuality.

Rambit further said, "as far as I am concerned, I have no problem and nobody could pressure me."

"Since I sat as Comelec registrar of Bacolod, I am transparent to my fellows," he added.

He also clarified that initially, he objected to an assignment in Bacolod.

"I was peacefully sitting in Sipalay City when the Bacolod slot was offered to me," Rambit said.

After all, he said it's not a matter or issue of pressure if he leaves Bacolod soon.

What matters most is that he will leave Bacolod probably for a new assignment as ordered by the commission.
