Silay's most wanted man in robbery-slay nabbed
By Claudine C. Dumalag

A MOST wanted person in Negros Occidental tagged in the rob-slay last March 2001 in Victorias City was collared at 7:30 a.m. Sunday in Silay City.

Chief Insp. Erwin Agpangan, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) Intelligence Branch head, led the arrest of the suspect Conrado Paala, 39, of Victorias, by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Felipe Banzon of the Silay City Regional Trial Court.

Paala has a P300,000 bounty for his arrest.

Senior Supt. Vicente Ponteras, provincial police director, disclosed the suspect broke through a lumberyard in Victorias in March 2001 and shot a lumberyard employee dead in the head with a .38 caliber revolver.

Police did not identify the latter's name.

After the robbery and killing, Ponteras said Paala has since went into hiding.

Investigation revealed that apprehending operatives received information that Paala went to Barangay Jan-ai in Escalante City to visit his wife's relatives.

They then planned out the suspect's arrest.

Paala is currently detained at the Noppo and will be turned over to the Silay police station Monday.
