8 Negrense karatekas off to regional tourney By Jerome S. Galunan, Jr.
EIGHT young karatekas will be seeing action in the forthcoming Regional Karatedo Championship on March 5-6, 2004 in Culasi, Antique.
The Negros Occidental Karatedo Federation-sponsored team will battle in the Batang Pinoy and Juniors categories.
Playing for coach Randy Mengullo in the Batang Pinoy division are Jack & Jill School's RD Parreño, Chrissa Mae Mationg, Emilio Alimon III, Rexie Clyde Ureta and Rodolfo Torrato Jr.
Mationg finished with two golds in the recent Bacolod and Negros Karatedo Championships while Torrato is a gold medallist in the 2002 Regional Championships.
Castleson High-Victorias' John Vic Fernandez and Jose Jover will boost coach Elan Delfin's entry in the Junior division along with Roaldo Limson of La Consolacion College of La Carlota City.
The delegation will be headed by Philippine Karatedo Federation Provincial Coordinator Rexie Diocares while Lawyer Emilio Alimon, Union of Martial Arts Organization of Negros and Bacolod president, will serve as the team manager.
