Negros XIs blank opponents

NEGROS Occidental squads in the elementary and secondary levels outpaced their respective rivals in their debut game at the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Meet in San Jose, Antique.

The Reynado Baldava-mentored secondary level football squad overshadowed host Antique, 2-0, in their first match Monday.

Francis Liza knocked in the first goal in the 27th minute in the first half followed by a goal by his teammate Auman in the 42nd in the second half.

The squad consists of Nacho Mendezona, John Eric Acevedo, Jason Asparen, Jonard Bentic, Ivan de la Cruz, Cristopher Darmsteadther, Von Joseph Bayquin, Francis Xavier Parcon, Vivincio Jimena, Clarence Fariola, Jose Marie Gubatayan, Randolf Perez, Bren Nian Jardio and Carlo Tacuisalme.

In the elementary division, Negrense striker Jemuel Ariola made three goals in the 18th, 26th and 36th minutes against the Capiz squad during their battle to nail a 3-0 output.

The squad is also composed of Raymark Fernandez (team captain), Cyruz Gomez, Gabriel Rodero, John Michael Liza, John Dominic Segaya, Ian Eugene Acevedo, June Mar Flores, Reymartin Castor, Clifford Estilo, Louis Hans Pun-an, Luther Selava, Elfred Rich Deraja, Donyl Ebalde, Japhet Viviro and Dalemark Sinoy.

Both squads will be facing powerhouse Iloilo squads Tuesday.

The elementary booters will take Barotac Elementary School at 7 a.m. Tuesday while the secondary footballers face Sta. Barbara Comprehensive High School at 8 a.m.
