Armed men rob Gaisano men of P3.2M
By Claudine C. Dumalag

FOUR unidentified armed men held up three personnel of the Gaisano City Mall in San Carlos City Monday morning along CL Ledesma Avenue.

Police initial investigation disclosed that at 10:30 a.m., the three Gaisano personnel were on their way to a bank also in San Carlos boarding a Pajero vehicle when the suspects, armed with a .45 caliber pistol, blocked them and declared the heist.

The vehicle was driven by Alvin Calvo, Gaisano Store Operations manager, and he was accompanied by Marissa de la Torre, bill cashier, and Karen Ang, treasury in-charge of the store.

The victims were on their way to deposit the P3.2 million cash with PCI-Bank without any security escort.

Police said the suspects then forcibly took the money and brought with them the two female passengers as hostages, leaving the driver behind.

The suspects also took the vehicle owned by Gaisano City and fled towards Calatrava town.

The victims told the police that the suspects identified themselves as members of a rebel movement.

Several hours after the hold-up, the suspects left the two female victims unharmed and the getaway vehicle along Sitio Tabok Suba, Barangay Buenavista in Calatrava.

The suspects eluded arrest on foot, making their way to the mountainous areas.

Meanwhile, the management of Gaisano offered Monday a reward of P100,000 to any person who could give information leading to the arrest of the suspects.

The joint operatives of the Calatrava and San Carlos police stations were conducting hot pursuit operations against the suspects as of Monday night.
