RMG sets up base in Alangilan By Christine Mae A. Pelayo
ALTHOUGH Bacolod City is relatively "very peaceful," Mayor Luzviminda Valdez proposed the putting up of a satellite post in Barangay Alangilan for the use of the Regional Mobile Group to secure the area.
She disclosed that of 34 RMG personnel detailed at the village, three troopers take turn per shift at the satellite post, to maintain peace and order in the locality.
Valdez, who earlier visited the peripheral areas in the city, particularly Barangay Alangilan, stressed the need to secure the area for the safety of the residents and owners of game fowls.
Several residents filed complaints claiming they have been victims of robbery, their game fowls taken.
Valdez ordered Senior Supt. Mario Avenido, city police director, to visit peripheral areas in the city and discuss with residents matters on peace and order.
The mayor disclosed she has talked with one of the residents in Alangilan and the latter said he saw the city director only through a local television program.
“There is really a need for the city director to go down to the puroks,” said Valdez.
Crime volume decrease
In another report, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) noted a significant decrease in the number of index and non-index crimes for the month of February compared to the same period last year.
The police accomplished its campaign against dangerous and prohibited drugs, on implementation of Oplan Paglalansag, anti-illegal gambling, service of warrant of arrest, anti-prostitution, pornography and child abuse and traffic law enforcement.
