Store manager, a Chinese national, faces raps
By Roberto L. Bacasong

* Suspect failed to present other immigration documents because he said his passport was in Manila

THE Bureau of Immigration and Deportation is now investigating the immigration documents of a Chinese national who was found to have used a number of aliases.

Currently under probe is Zhang Zhiang Lin, with aliases Shang Wen Bo and Jeffrey Chang, a resident of Dawis, Barangay 14, and the acting manager of Unitop General Merchandising Corp., in Gonzaga St., Bacolod City.

Chief Insp. Harold Tuzon, chief of the city police Intelligence and Investigation Branch who is coordinating with the BID in the probe, disclosed Lin was indeed using several aliases.

This was also confirmed by Mita Chuvy Arguelles, BID-Bacolod head, when she visited the Chinese national Monday morning.

Earlier, Ricardo Brito, owner of Unitop, filed qualified theft charges against Lin for illegally selling the store's kitchenware products without the owner's knowledge.

Lin is now detained at Police Station 1.

Arguelles revealed that he only knew of Lin's name through his driver's license.

Aside from the driver's license, Arguelles said Lin failed to present other immigration documents because he said his passport was in Manila.

Arguelles disclosed that lawyer Faizal Hussin, chief of the Intelligence Section of BID-Manila, ordered her to place Lin under the BID's safekeeping.

She further said that Lin will be brought to Manila today by the BID-Manila personnel.

Tuzon, on the other hand, said that Brito told the police that he will no longer press charges against Lin.

Tuzon said though that the suspect will still face charges for violating the BID Law.

Earlier, Brito told investigators that last February and March 2004, Chang sold 100 pieces of kitchenware products to Teodoro Tan, owner of DYT store in Lopez-Jaena streets, without any permission from the storeowner. RLB
