Biazon urges fellow bets: Unite v. poll fraud voters
By Avelyn Z. Agudon

SENATOR Rodolfo Biazon urged national candidates to unite against brokers of election fraud who are reportedly starting to approach politicians to offer their services.

Biazon said regardless of party affiliation, candidates should unite to rally behind the Commission on Elections "to help exterminate termites that continue to gnaw and destroy the institutional processes."

He also asked his fellow candidates to come forward to identify brokers.

"Come forward and together we can put an end to this evil in the election process," he said.

The brokers of election fraud reportedly offered to protect the votes of national candidates in the National Capital Region and Region 6 at the cost of P500,000 for every city and municipality in the area that will be covered by their operation.

Other offers include P25 million for outright assurance of winning a slate in the elections, P35 per additional vote, and P1 million mobilization fund per region.

Biazon met with Commission on Elections Chairman Benjamin Abalos, where he revealed the identity of the broker who asked him as much as P8.5 million for vote protection services.

He asked Abalos to take necessary steps with the help of the National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine National Police to thwart what he called a "nefarious exercise" of subverting the will of the people, or "to put these brokers in jail where they belong."
