Job opportunities open in S. Korea: POEA
By Clara Mae Hortelano

THE Philippine Overseas Employment Authority (POEA) Bacolod City Office has an ongoing registration of applicants for job opportunities in South Korea.

Carmen Nagum, head of POEA Bacolod, said that they are currently accepting applicants to fill in the job opportunities in the manufacturing industry, electronics and teaching positions in South Korea.

She added that all job placements for South Korea will be coursed through POEA offices.

This came after reports that the national government and South Korea have signed a covenant extending 10,000 job openings for jobseekers in the Philippines.

"Three weeks ago we have received an order to register memorandum circular from POEA Manila," said Nagum.

She disclosed that they only have 56 applicants who have registered with them as of Monday.

But POEA Manila has registered a total of 7,000 applicants while POEA Cebu has 500 applicants daily.

Nagum said they are expecting thousands of jobseekers all over the province to flock their office in the coming weeks.

"There is no processing fee for the papers and documents for the applicants," she said.

Nagum stressed that interested applicants are required to submit NBI clearance, authenticated birth certificates, 2x2 pictures and High School or College Diploma.

Applicants must not be over 40 years old.

"So far, we don't have any idea how many job openings will be given for Bacolod City and Negros Occidental," said Nagum.

She also said that the job placement of Filipino workers in South Korea will help many Filipinos in uplifting their lives and fulfilling their dreams.
