Mayoralty bet endorses Joy
By Christine Mae A. Pelayo

THIS ONE'S for the books.

Bacolod mayoralty candidate Dr. Benito San Joaquin Monday endorsed another mayoralty bet, incumbent Mayor Luzviminda Valdez.

San Joaquin publicly endorsed Valdez in front of the Bacolod City Hall Press Corps after the press conference with the Bacolod City Police Office personnel.

However, San Joaquin stressed that he will not withdraw his candidacy for the mayoralty race although he is campaigning for Valdez.

"There is no withdrawal of candidacy but together we (San Joaquin and Valdez) will make Bacolod City more livable," said San Joaquin.

He added that together, they will stop the drug menace, violence on women and children, Casino culture and corruption in the city.

"I am congratulating (in advance) Mayor Luzviminda Valdez. Tapos na ang election," said San Joaquin.

Valdez, on the other hand, said that she was surprised of San Joaquin's pronouncement.

But, he told Valdez: "You can count on me. I already have campaigned for you."

Other mayoralty candidates for the May 10 polls are Evelio "Bing" Leonardia, Councilor Celia Matea Flor and Julio Quirino.

Under Leonardia's line-up are vice mayoralty bet Councilor Roberto Rojas, Congressional candidate Councilor Archie Baribar, candidates for councilors Joe Gabuat, Sonya Verdeflor, Pete Malapitan, Puaki Ferrer Jr., Nap Cordova, Carlos Jocson, Solomon Lobrido, Rolando Villamor, Mitchel Villarosa and Guillermo Villasor.

They are the official candidates of Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino.

On the other hand, the Team Builders is headed by congressional candidate Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella, vice mayoralty bet Ramiro "Chick" Garcia; candidates for councilors, incumbent councilors Jude Thaddeus Sayson and Bobbie Lucasan, village heads Dindo Ramos and Nono Verba and neophytes Homer Bais, Aljo Arceo and Lando Villamor.
