PROVINCIAL government will implement austerity measures which include banning of overtime service and cutting expenses amid the fiscal crisis.
Overtime service will not be rendered unless it will endanger or will result to loss of lives and property.
Vice Mayor Renecito Novero called off Monday the proposed renovation of his office and that of the city council.
The province will regulate and minimize the travel of government officials and for the department heads to coordinate with each other in allowing personnel to travel to different cities and municipalities.
The province will also review and evaluate the hiring of utility workers as they end up duplicating the functions of the regular utility workers.
If the government officials, department heads and employees will attend a seminar and conventions their attendance must be required.
The province further recommended conserving or minimizing the use of fuel. The bringing of vehicles by their drivers to their homes must be restricted.
Putting off of unnecessary electricity is also advised. The air conditioning system must also be put off during break and off hours.
Employees were further advised to conserve or minimize the use of office supplies and stationeries.
Novero stressed amid the country's economic woes, it is but natural to postpone the scheduled renovation of two offices under his jurisdiction.
Novero refused though to disclose how much the amount intended for the renovation work was.
The City Engineer's Office was supposed to undertake the renovation work but Novero had signified to Engr. Loreto Dilag not to pursue the work.
"I think we need to prioritize the basic needs of the city. Although my office and the office of the city council members look so dull and dilapidated, it can wait," he said.
Novero also disclosed the city council had passed a resolution objecting the 18-month suspension of the Internal Revenue Allotment.
