Reward up for informants on shabu lab
GOVERNOR Joseph Marañon put up a reward on informants of the shabu laboratory in Negros Occidental.
Marañon refused to say how much the reward is but said it would depend on the amount and volume of illegal drugs recovered.
The reward will come from his personal fund. The governor further said the reported existence of a shabu laboratory will remain hearsay if the police failed to prove that indeed it exists.
Marañon said the unverified reports will just create damage to the community.
Bishop Vicente Navarra earlier urged law enforcers to conduct raids on the reported clandestine shabu laboratory in Negros Occidental.
Newly-installed Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency head Supt. Rolen Balquin reported the alleged existence of shabu laboratory in the province.
Concerned government agencies will jointly conduct the "Anti-Drug Operations and Investigation" seminar at 8 a.m. Friday.
The participants will be from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, operatives of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Intelligence Branch and provincial government officials.
"The seminar is aimed at validating and revalidating the number of personalities included in the drugs watch list and the drug groups in the province," said Balquin.
Balquin said the PNP and PDEA will be helping hand in hand to search and arrest all drug pushers and suppliers of illegal drugs.
"We have new strategies in fighting back against drug pushers under Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. We have vigorous operations to arrest them," Balquin warned the drug suspects.
He also said they are giving much focus to some big-time drug personalities in the province, including Bacolod City.
"We are continuously monitoring the three identified newly- created drug groups in Western Visayas. These are the main subjects of our operation," Balquin said.
He revealed that they have the names of some police personnel who were either directly or indirectly involved in illegal drugs.
