Sun Cellular transfers

DIGITEL Mobile Philippines, Inc. through Ericson Telecommunications, Inc., its prime contractor for Sun Cellular cell site in Mansilingan, Bacolod voluntarily transferred its site to another location.

The new site would still be in Mansilingan where there would be less residents within the 60 meters radius of the site.

However, City Legal Officer Allan Zamora, said Friday that Digitel also laid down a condition requesting the city government that their permits already issued and approved before be honored for the proposed substitute site.

But Zamora stressed if legal opinion is to be asked, then Digitel should start all over again.

Their approved permit to construct a cell site along Begonia Street, Purok Paghidaet in Mansilingan shall be considered cancelled already after they failed to comply certain requirements needed.

But as to their plan to move again into a less populated area, it's okay, provided, however, they should comply again in securing the necessary permits needed, stressed Zamora.

Still among the permits they needed to secure are the Air Transportation Office Clearance, Barangay Clearance, city council Clearance, Zoning Certification and Building Permit Application.

Moreover, Zamora warned Digitel to see to it first that people in the community where they target to construct a cell site or tower should approve their project.

"What is important is the people's approval," stressed Zamora.

Digitel was earlier questioned on the matter of health hazards to the people in Purok Paghidaet to be caused by their cell site tower in the area.
