Final 4 teams lock horns in Montevista 12U caging By Fernelle C. Rodriguez
FOUR teams have finally reached the semifinal round of the Montevista Development Basketball League 12-Under basketball tournament.
On top of the ladderboard is the University of St. La Salle-Janaqua B team who gained their berth unbeaten, 5-0.
The Leo Casinillo-mentored La Salle-Janaqua B secured their first win in the opening games held last Aug. 28 against St. Francis of Assisi of J.R. Abello, 86-27, then went on to trounce the cagers of St. Rose of Lima School of Joel Regodos the next day, 125-18.
The La Salle-Janaqua B also overpowered the Jack and Jill School Homesite last Sept. 5, 113-48. They then took on the cagers of Bacolod Tay Tung High School of Gerome Aledron on Sept. 19, 71-38.
They finished their round assignments on Oct. 3 by beating the
Mustangs of Elvis Atinado, 123-16.
Bacolod Tay Tung High School is in second spot. They secured their first win on Sept. 5 by defeating La Salle-Janaqua A of Jun Jun Legaria, 84-18.
The team then edged out St. Rose of Lima School on Sept. 11, 72-56, and went on to defeat St. Francis of Assisi School the next day.
They finished their round assignments on Sept. 25 by beating Jack and Jill School, 60-47.
The third spot went to St. Francis of Assisi from Silay. They first beat Mustangs on Sept. 4, 64-36, then went on to beat La Salle-Janaqua A on Sept. 18, 58-3.
They also won over St. Rose last Sept 26, 72-49.
Jack and Jill School (Homesite) completes the final four. They first defeated La Salle-Janaqua A last Aug. 29, 56-31, and trounced the St. Rose team on Sept. 4, 55-46. They secured their last win on Sept. 26 by defeating team Mustang, 61-48.
The tournament was organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Montevista led by SK chair and NOPSSCEA lawn tennis champ Jenny Pearl Lizares and league commissioner T. J. Aguilar.
