3 minors suffer infection in white slave trade: NBI
By Avelyn Z. Agudon

THREE Negrense minors rescued from a prostitution den in Roxas City are suffering from infection, revealed Lawyer Arnel Sigue, special investigator of the National Bureau of Investigation - Bacolod District Office.

Citing the result of a medical examination, Sigue said the three victims from Isabela town and Barangays Estefania and Banago, Bacolod City are currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Office in Iloilo City.

The NBI rescued the minors who were allegedly forced to work as prostituted women for five months already in New Roadside KTV along Roxas Avenue, Roxas.

Sigue further said they are preparing the victims' affidavits for the filing of violation of Anti-Trafficking of Persons and child abuse charges against the recruiters and bar owner identified as Jenny Arangue, a native of Barangay Bungahin, Isabela.

About 10 minors were reportedly recruited to work as waitresses in a carinderia with a monthly salary of P1,500 and additional P800 during catering services.

They, however, later ended as "prostituted women" receiving only P2 per bottle of beer ordered by their customers.

The victims were reportedly forced to use shabu and drink liquor if the customers wanted to bring the minors to a "date."

Of the 10 victims, two reportedly got pregnant.

More victims

Sigue said the prostitution ring that forced women to work in other bars operating in Roxas victimized more minors from Negros Occidental, including Bacolod.

He added some of the minors wanted to go home but were allegedly restricted to go out.

The victims told the NBI they had no money to spend for their fare home so they tried to save the meager amount they received as share in the profits of the ladies' drinks.
