Raps filed vs attacker of policeman
By Claudine C. Dumalag

THREE laborers linked to the stabbing two weeks ago of a 602nd Regional Mobile Group trooper in Sagay City will be charged with frustrated murder.

Supt. Norberto Boston, Sagay police chief, revealed the victim, Police Officer 1 Ildefonso Miranda has been reportedly receiving threats to his life from the kin of the fatality, Jose Alpeche, 35, of Barangay Poblacion, Sagay.

Miranda is now recuperating at Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City.
He suffered multiple stab wounds.

Boston said they are still looking into love triangle and revenge as possible motives behind the stabbing that took place in Barangay Poblacion, Sagay.

Police investigation revealed Miranda was visiting his girlfriend when the group of Alpeche ganged up on him and started stabbing him without any provocation.

Recovered at the scene of stabbing were seven spent shells and two live ammunition for an M16 armalite rifle; five spent shells, one live ammunition and one slug for a .45 caliber pistol; one Seiko wristwatch; one flashlight; one ball cap; and three pairs of slippers.

Police investigators also received reports that Alpeche is a distant relative of Miranda's other girlfriend who was said to be pregnant.

Miranda shot Alpeche to defend himself, Supt. Mark Edison Belarma, acting provincial director earlier said.

Witnesses, however, said they saw one of the RMG members shoot Alpeche at close range while his (Alpeche's) companions, whose names are being withheld by the police, eluded arrest.
