Nat'l Prisaa games moved
By Fernelle C. Rodriguez

THE Western Visayas Private Schools Athletic Association Regional meet, which was primarily reported to open on Dec. 6-7, 2004 was moved next year.

In a letter faxed to Prisaa-Athletic manager and University of St. La Salle sports director Roger Banzuela, WV Prisaa President Engr. Walden S. Rio said the games will be held on the last week of January or the first week of February in 2005.

Rio further said this decision was jointly agreed by the school authorities of the host-University of San Agustin-Iloilo.

Rio added the National Private Schools Athletic Association meet will be moved to April next year.

The WV Prisaa committee will be having a board meeting this December to finalize the dates of the meets.

The NOPSSCEA contingents will be composed of premier athletes from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, University of St. La Salle, West Negros College, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, and Riverside College. They will battle with the contingents from Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo and Antique.

Fr. Emilio Jaruda, OAR, Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association president and UNO-R vice-president for academics, said he is hoping that there will be more athletes who will compete in the coming WV PRISAA and that more medals will be won by the NOPSSCEA contingent.

He added this is his birthday wish, which he celebrated last Tuesday.

Events to be competed in the meet are men's and women's athletics, men's and women's volleyball, men's football, men's and women's badminton, men's and women's lawn tennis, men's and women's chess, men's and women's taekwondo, men's and women's table tennis, men's and women's swimming, sepak takraw and basketball.
