2 seriously injured in canetruck mishap
By Claudine C. Dumalag

TWO persons, including a minor, were seriously injured when their Isuzu Canter delivery truck rammed in a 10-wheeler sugarcane truck, which was stalled along the highway in Barangay Bato, Sagay City Saturday evening.

The victims were identified as Renante Capitle, 28, a Provincial Government employee; and Rene Boy Dilao, 17, both residents of Barangay Rizal.

Capitle's elder sister, identified as Rema Radan, said the Canter was driven by her husband, Benjie, 38.

Radan sustained minor injuries during the accident as she managed to jump from the truck.

Capitle sustained fractured legs and several contusions in his face while Dilao suffered a head injury after he was thrown a few meters away from their truck.

Capitle was sitting on the passenger seat beside Radan.

Radan's wife said Dilao preferred sitting on the several cases of softdrinks on top of the truck.

The victims were on their way home at 6:45 p.m. from delivering softdrinks in Barangay Bato.

She said that it took at least 30 minutes before Capitle was removed from the truck.

The victims were immediately brought to Central Bato District Hospital for treatment but due to severe injuries the victims were transferred to Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City.

One of the victims disclosed that the stalled truck was left unattended and has no early warning device aside from the fact that the area was unlighted.

As of Sunday, the operatives of Sagay City Police Station is conducting an investigation and still identifying the driver of the stalled vehicle./CCD
