Council slashes Zamora's enforcement budget By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan
THE City Council slashed by three-fourths City Legal Officer Allan Zamora's proposed 2005 Ordinance Enforcement Unit Budget.
From the P2 million original proposal, the city council approved only P500,000.
The budget was intended for Job Order casual employees for the office.
According to reports, Zamora had no choice but to hire only at least five job order casuals.
Zamora cannot be reached for comment as of presstime Tuesday night.
Vice Mayor Renecito Novero, on the other hand, belied reports that the delay on the release of salaries and wages of all permanent and casual employees at City Hall was because he signed the Budget Ordinance late.
In a press statement, the vice mayor stressed that the controversial Appropriation Ordinance No. 55, series of 2005 which approved the General Budget for 2005, is now in the hands of Mayor Evelio Leonardia for approval.
The council passed the ordinance with 24 collatillas in a special session last December 29.
The copy of the budget ordinance, however, was submitted to his office only last January 17, 4:10 p.m. and he immediately signed it the next day, Jan. 18, said Novero.
The vice mayor said he forwarded the signed budget ordinance to the office of Leonardia at 10:09 a.m. of Jan. 18.
The vice mayor said the claim of the mayor that he cannot pay the salaries and wages of the city employees for January was not true and is in fact misleading.
