Accomplice in Ortaliz slay-try to surrender
By Claudine C. Dumalag

OPERATIVES of the Kabankalan City police station received surrender feelers from one of the suspects in the slay-try of a division chief of the Kabankalan Water District two weeks ago.

Senior Police Officer 3 Perfecto Larracas, city police investigator, said they filed charges of frustrated murder against Jetro Victoria, his brother identified only as alias "Gamay," both of Sitio Lupni, Barangay Hilamunan, Kabankalan; Kabankalan Water casual employee Val Lobrique, and one John Doe last week.

Larracas said they received a surrender feeler from Jetro.

Investigation disclosed Jetro was the one who borrowed the get-away vehicle used by Lobrique and a still unidentified gunman in shooting the victim, Engr. Jorge Ortaliz in front of the KabWater District office.

Ortaliz was shot twice in the head with a .45 caliber pistol but he survived.

Police said they are still awaiting the arrest warrant to come out so they can arrest the suspects.

Larracas believed the suspects are hiding outside Kabankalan.

Supt. Mark Edison Belarma, acting police provincial director, earlier advised all policemen to employ the necessary force in arresting the suspects because they are considered as "armed and extremely dangerous."

He also appealed to Negrosanons to report and cooperate to the police if they know the whereabouts of the suspects.

Larracas said they are ensuring the safety of the four witnesses who reportedly received threats to their lives.

Two of the witnesses are cousins of Ortaliz.
